Bike for the Cure

Neither of the riders comes from a family with Huntington's Disease. In 1997, Marie discovered HD through meeting Carmen Leal, author of Faces of Huntington's on the Christian Writer's Group list on the Internet. In June 1998, at Carmen's invitiation, Marie attended the HDSA Convention in Denver, CO. After this experience, Marie was deeply touched. Her Christian faith required action; "...let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth." (1 John 3:18) Marie and Charlotte met through a mutual friend and the trio rode the first "Bike for the Cure" together in 1999. Since then, Charlotte and Marie have done four rides together for HD (Charlotte also rode around Colorado for Habitat for Humanity in 2000, while Marie rode across America with Scott Springer.) This is the seventh ride for HD; previous rides include Bike for the Cure 99, Bike for the Cure 2000, Border War on HD (Canada to Mexico), HD Ramble 'Round the Colonies, Trek Across Texas, and Kick HD on Route 66 (Albuquerque NM - St. Louis, MO). More than 12,000 miles have been covered in these past rides, through parts of 31 states and Washington DC, raising over $140,000 to help cure HD. This year, we will add three more states to this total. Our fundraising goal is to reach at least $175,000. Please give generously so a cure may be found.
