"Cycle the Heartland for HD" is a 950 mile bicycle ride from Clinton, MO. to Pittsburgh, PA. for the 23rd Annual HDSA Convention (June 6-8, 2008). In 1967, Marjorie Guthrie, the widow of famed folksinger Woody Guthrie, founded the Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease, which evolved into the Huntington's Disease Society of America. The purpose of the ride is to heighten public awareness of Huntington's Disease and to raise funds for family services and research towards a cure.

" I think the bicycle has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. I stand and rejoice every time I see a woman ride on a wheel. It gives women a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. "

Susan B. Anthony - more than 100 years ago, when interviewed for the New York World.
