There are two ways to the top of the Arch. The first is to use the 1000+ step stairwells - wisely, the stair wells have "Emergency Exit" signs on them. (It would have to be an emergency to want to use them.) The second way is shown in this picture. Five people squeeze into one of these little gondolas (there are eight of them in each of the North and South trams). The doors close and you are carried to the top (63 stories) in a blazing 4 minutes (about 4 miles per hour).
